In need of a truck

Joel and I need to transport a love seat and treadmill from Joel's parent's home in Carlisle to our home in Hershey this coming weekend or sometime by June 9th.  Does anyone have a pick up truck we can borrow?  Pretty please with a cherry on top?

Service Opportunity

I have a friend from when we lived here before in medical school. Her name is Jen Swensen if anyone remembers her. They are looking for someone who can help with their 5 year old little boy. He has been staying in NY for the past week with family. And they are trying to get him back home. Their family is willing to drive him to Hershey next Saturday. Jen's neighbors will be going to Hershey Park that day and are willing to drive him home with them. I am looking for someone who would be willing to watch him for a few hours that day and then drive him to Chocolate World to meet their friends. I would love to do it myself but we are leaving on vacation that very day. Jen has a lot of kids and is in the middle of a crazy move so I would really like to help her out if I can. I know their are some great people here so I thought I would put it out there and see if anyone can help out. Contact me at childsongbird(at)yahoo(dot)come. Thanks, Wendy

Hershey Park Discounts???

Hi Everyone,
I'm out of the loop on where to get the best discounts for entering the park and was wondering if any of you had some tidbits to share. Some of our friends are planning a trip up there in a couple weeks and I'm just trying to help them find the best deal. If you are aware of any coupons or discounts will you let me know? We've talked the "Sweetest Place on Earth" up and now others want to discover it. Hope you all are doing well.

Little People Special

Fisher Price has a special offer for a play mat.  It's only $4.99 (no added tax & Shipping & Handling is included in the price).  The only catch is that you need a UPC for any Little People play-set or accessory for each mat, but if you've bought anything lately it works- plus, they have little people on sale for $3 if you really need a UPC for the mat.

HELP! Monsters vs. Aliens

My son, Zac, is OBSESSED with the movie Monsters vs. Aliens. He is not giving up with asking 100 times a day for the set of toys from McDonalds, despite me telling him that they don't have them anymore. I wondered if any of your children have them and are done playing with them and willing to give them to Zac. He is specifically looking for Susan, Bob, Dr. Cockroach...he has Link, Insecto and the Robot Monster. Any help would be MUCH apreciated. Thanks! -Kris

The A/C on our van has gone out. We just had a fan replaced at the dealership and they could fix the A/C but it is pricey. Does anyone know of a cheaper place to have the A/C serviced?

Help Needed - Part time Childcare & light housekeeping

My good friend will be in need of part time help in the afternoon at her home. They are a great family with really good kids. Her description is below . . . .

I am looking for after school care for my two school-age children, starting in September, 2010. I will be going to medical school in the fall and we will need some extra help around the house. We are looking for someone to help 3 to 5 days a week (Mondays thru Fridays) from 3 - 6:30 pm. We want someone who could be here about an hour before the kids got off the bus, make dinner, fold and put laundry away, put dishes in or out of the dishwasher etc. It would really be light housekeeping stuff to keep the house relatively together while I am not here. The position would also involve taking the children to soccer or swimming practice or whatever the activity is once they get home. It would also involve helping them get their homework done, giving them snacks etc., the more typical babysitter stuff. I can be relatively flexible on the days of the week, but I do know that I need long-term, regular baby-sitting for the kids. The pay rate would be between $10 - $15 an hour with probably about 10 - 17 hours a week. If you are interested, please email Ingrid at ingbill@comcast.net

Emergency Preparedness and More

While I was trying to spy on my potential future ward (incidentally Julie B.'s ward in Oregon) I found her ward's blog for emergency preparedness. It's really neat. It has all sorts of information on what to put in all sorts of kits as well as neat websites, resources and LDS talks on the subject.
THIS IS THE WEBSITE.

Going GREEN

Hey,

We are considering going GREEN. Does anyone here know anything about Solar Panels? or do you know anyone that knows anything about Solar Panels? Has anyone here explored the option of renewable energy...converting solar to electricy? Our main question is:

Should they be Monocrystalline or Polycrystalline panels... and WHY? Is it worth the extra $$?

Thanks in advance,

Strawberries

Walmart in Harrisburg has humongous, yummy strawberries for $1.67 a lb. Beating out Karns at $2.50/lb. I think we ate 2 lbs. just on the way home.:)

Piano Lessons

I can't afford piano lessons for Jackson, but I also feel like I can't afford not to get him started. I could teach him myself, but I am a little afraid of having that relationship with him. So I was thinking, if there is any piano playing person with a child, that also wants piano lesso, and you find yourself in the same financial situation. Maybe we could do a trade. I teach your child and you teach mine? I was thinking of starting during the summer when there isn't a lot of other stuff going on. If there are any takers contact me at childsongbird(at)yahoo(dot)com. Thanks

Free TV

We have a 27" television that needs a home. We got another TV for Christmas, and we have no where to put our other one or we'd totally keep it. It works great except one of the speakers once in a while goes in and out, so therefore we're happy to give it to anyone who could use it. And no, it's not a flat screen. Let me know if you're interested.

Emergency Preparedness

Hey all! This months group order deals are great! We have apple slices for $10 a can if 12 cans are purchased--and already I have a few cans of those lined up that someone would like! Personal BurnFree Burn Kits are $7 this month if 10 kits are purchased. Cans of freeze-dried broccoli are a carry-over for this month--$10/can if 12 cans are purchased and headlamps for $4 if 15 are purchased. Remember, we get free shipping on the entire order if we meet any one of the group order deals. They also have lots of other items on sale. Check it out at www.beprepared.com.

Also, if you have looked into Shelf Reliance products you know they are good quality items. You may order them through Costco for a cheaper price. Check it out at www.costco.com. Not a Costco member? No problem! Call me and let me know and I can place an order for you--free shipping!--and have it delivered to your door! Too pricey but you want the items? Consider going in with another family or two and order the same case 2 (or 3) months in a row, everyone pitching in their portion, and you can all end up with a whole case, buying it a few cans at a time.

Happy day to you all! -Kris

Bottles for Canning

Hello all!
Does anyone want quart size jars for bottled fruit this year? In the past I have bottled pears, peaches and apple pie filling. So yummy!!!
I have at least two dozen wide mouth jars with rings available. I can bring them to you on Sunday, just comment below.
Thanks!

Train

For two Sundays Caleb has made a big fuss (literally) over trains that other kids have. I think it's in my best interest and those sitting by me in Sacrament to invest in some train toys for ammo in the we're-in-church-keep-quiet battle. Any suggestions as to where I can get some? He's been most interested in the magnetic, Thomas ones, but I'm not sure he really knows who he is. So I don't know if it would matter what kind. (I could be wrong on that...:)

Propane tank

I am looking for a used propane tank for our new grill. If anyone is getting rid of theirs soon please think of us. I'm willing to buy it off of you. It's just that a new one runs around $35 and then I'd have to trade it in. That just seems like a lot of money to me so if you know of a propane tank that needs a good home we'll take it.

Indian Stuff

In our preparations to move, I came across my totes full of bags, shawls, scarves, etc. that are left over from when Billy and I did a little importing a few years back. (Some of you may have come and dug through it all a couple of years ago.) I REALLY would like to clear some of this out and not have to move it all with me next month. If you're interested in perusing the goods, shoot me an email (jacksonfamily (at) gmail (dot) com) and we can arrange a time for you to come on over. My main goal is to clear this stuff out so any sort of price, swap, trade, or other form of exchange would be accepted.
